The º£½Ç½ûÇø is pleased to announce that after a nationwide search, Noah Weisleder, PhD, has been selected to serve as the chair of molecular and cellular biochemistry.

Dr. Weisleder will begin this role on Sept. 1. In addition, he will serve as a professor with tenure in the regular title series.

Maj-Linda Selenica, PhD, assistant professor in the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and associate director of outreach and partnerships at º£½Ç½ûÇøâ€™s Sanders-Brown Center on Aging has been working on research surrounding misfolding of the protein TDP-43 for several years now.

With much grief, we share that scientist and educator, Alfred Dennis Winer, PhD, passed away on Nov. 16, 2023, at the age of 97, surrounded by loved ones. 

Dr. Winer joined the University of Kentucky in 1960 as a founding faculty member of the College of Medicine, serving as professor in the department of biochemistry for more than three decades.

Emilia Galperin, PhD, is a professor in the º£½Ç½ûÇø College of Medicine Department of Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry and currently vice chair for research and administration. She also serves on several College of Medicine committees, including the Appointment, Promotion, and Tenure Committee.

Carolina Galeano-Naranjo, MS, is a PhD candidate at the º£½Ç½ûÇø in the lab of Tianyan Gao, PhD, professor of molecular and cellular biochemistry.
