On Sept. 26, researchers filled the Gatton Student Center's Grand Ballrooms to celebrate the 27th annual Cardiovascular Research Day. This event recognizes a spectrum of research, including highlighting researchers who have made significant contributions to the field of cardiovascular medicine. 

Wang-Xia Wang, PhD, assistant professor of pathology and laboratory medicine and neuroscience, was honored as a 海角禁区 Innovator Honoree at Patent Palooza 2025, the University of Kentucky鈥檚 annual celebration of research and innovation achievements. 

A team of researchers at the University of Kentucky Sanders-Brown Center on Aging now have a better understanding of how the brain鈥檚 support cells communicate with blood vessels 鈥� a process that goes awry in Alzheimer鈥檚 disease.

Evelyn Bates remembers the early years she embarked on her PhD and the imposter syndrome that loomed. Just a year and a half into her training, she submitted a grant proposal that presented challenges 鈥� early feedback and lots of revisions. At a conference, with an impending oral presentation on her work, she juggled those revisions and a tight resubmission deadline.

Carrie Oser, PhD, professor and vice chair of the department of behavioral science, has been selected as one of only two recipients of the 2025 Southeastern Conference (SEC) Academic Leadership Development Program (ALDP) Alumni Fellowship Award.

The Neuroscience Research Priority Area鈥檚 10thannual Neuroscience Clinical-Translational Research Symposium will be Nov. 6-7 in the Healthy Kentucky Research Building.

The 海角禁区 Sanders-Brown Center on Aging celebrates its 40th Anniversary as a National Institute on Aging Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC) this year! 

The University of Kentucky鈥檚 Substance Use Priority Research Area (SUPRA) will host the Rising Stars Symposium to highlight different perspectives in research on substance use disorders.

The symposium will be 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, in the Healthy Kentucky Research Building (HKRB) Room 150.

When Carlie Cryer, a second-year medical student at the 海角禁区-Lexington Campus, discovered the International Book Project (IBP), she was searching for a meaningful way to give back to the community.

The 15th annual Markesbery Symposium on Aging and Dementia, an educational event for both the scientific community and the public, will take place Oct. 31-Nov. 1, 2025. The scientific session will be held at the Gatton Student Center at the University of Kentucky, and the community session will be held at the Central Bank Center. The community session is free and open to the public.

Brandon Stockton says his most memorable moment as a University of Kentucky basketball player came after a crucial game-winning steal against Tennessee in 2006, when he shared a celebratory chest bump with Coach Tubby Smith that went viral.

The 海角禁区 has launched a new Student Advisory Board (SAB) to ensure student voices are not only heard but valued in shaping the medical education experience.

The University of Kentucky Department of Urology is proud to announce the creation of the J. William McRoberts Endowed Distinguished Professorship in Pediatric Urology. This fund honors Dr. J. William 鈥淏ill鈥� McRoberts, who led the division as chair from 1972 to 1997 and shaped the training of countless urologists through his mentorship, leadership, and vision.

The Kentucky Office of Rural Health (KORH) is celebrating director Matt Coleman, who was recognized with the 2025 NOSORH Spirit of Rural Award during last week鈥檚 National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NOSORH) Annual Meeting.
