The º£½Ç½ûÇø utilizes a learning community system to ensure all medical students experience optimum professional development, career advising, and social connectedness and wellness during medical school. 

Each medical student is placed into a "house" that bears the name of a breed of horse, honoring Kentucky's long tradition of horse racing. The º£½Ç½ûÇø College of Medicine hosts a variety of meetings and events for our learning communities to encourage teamwork, promote holistic wellness, and create a friendly, fun environment for our students as they face the challenges of medical school.

Our mission with learning communities is to: 

  • Foster a sense of community among students and faculty 
  • Develop students personally and professionally
  • Provide academic advising, career exploration, and planning

Each Learning Community is paired with a local organization for community service. Below is the 2025 list of House Service Organizations:
