2025 Call for Nominations

The 海角禁区 College of Medicine Office of Research is requesting nominations for the 2025 Research Awards. The awards recognize faculty and staff who have made outstanding contributions to basic, clinical and translational research in the College of Medicine. The nomination deadline is Sunday, November 30, 2025.

Award Winners

Awardees will receive a certificate and cash award and will be honored at an awards luncheon in February 2026. The Vice Dean for Research will announce the award winners and notify each awardee's center and/or department chair in December 2025.

Who May Nominate

Nominations may be submitted from any 海角禁区 College of Medicine faculty or staff member, and self-nominations are permitted for all awards.

Award Categories & Eligibility

Early Career Mentoring Award in Basic, Translational or Clinical Research - Faculty

This award recognizes outstanding faculty mentors of research-intensive trainees. Awardees will receive a certificate and cash award at a total value of $2500. Up to two recipients per year.

Criteria

Nominations will be reviewed, and awardees selected by the Research Awards Committee. Faculty awardees will be selected based on the success of their trainees (as judged by publications, awards, fellowships, and career placement after training) and trainee letters of support.

Eligibility

海角禁区 College of Medicine faculty with less than 10 years since their first faculty appointment and nominations supported by a current or past trainee or faculty mentee. This award may only be received once every 10 years.

Nomination Materials

  1. Nomination/Self-Nomination Letter (1-2 pages)
    • Highlight the accomplishments of up to 10 trainees (mentoring) in the nomination letter.
  2. CV/Resume
  3. Previous Trainees List
    • List previous trainees (mentoring) and their accomplishments and placement.
  4. Letters of Support
    • Include at least one letter of support from a trainee; maximum three letters of support from trainees.
